How to create cool backgrounds

This simple tutorial will teach you how to make nifty backgrounds.

Create a new image. Size in this case doesn't matter, but I reccomend 100x100 px-400x400 px. Just basically a square.

Select a background and foreground color. Anything's fine.

Shift+Backspace to fill.

Filter>Render>Difference Clouds

You may repeat that as many times as you want, and can change the hue/saturation (CTRL+U), foreground and background colors as often as you like.

Filter>Stylize>Extrude

Settings:

Type: Pyramids

Size: 5-20 Pixels (5, 10 and 20 in specific are reccomended.)

Depth: 10-20 Random

(Actually, the pixel size all depends on the size of the image. the smaller the image, the smaller the pixels. the larger the image, the larger the pixels may be.)

Hit OK.

Filter>Stylize>Extrude.

Settings:

Type: Blocks

Size: 25-30 Pixels (10, 20 and 30 are reccomended. Basically what you had originally times two works well.)

Depth: 25-30 Random

CLick OK.

That's it! Then you can play around with options and stuff as much as you like. It makes a dandy background for pictures.

If you like, you can always do CTRL+F after you add one of the Extrude filters, to make it pop out more. Or, you can just play around with all the settings a whole bunch. Have fun!
