An Easter Egg is a hidden program/game/surprise that's generally built into a program. They're just little miscellaneous prizes that programmers put in for fun!
Please note that these all work in Windows 98. I'm not sure about Windows 95, although they'd probably work in that, too.

Open up Microsoft Word 97.
In a new document, type Blue.
Double-click the word to select it, and select Format>Font.
Change the font style to bold, and the text color to blue. Click OK.
Type a space after the bold, blue word Blue.
Select Help>About Microsoft Word.
Hold down Ctrl-Shift and click on the banner containing the Word logo. (On the left.)
The whole screen will be taken over by a black screen with a cast list and a pinball game! Use Z to work the left flipper and M for the right flipper. If you want out of the game, just hit Esc. It's a good time waster!
Open up Microsoft Excel 97.
Press F5.
Type in X97:L97 and press Enter.
Press Tab.
Hold down Ctrl-Shift while you click the toolbar's Chart Wizard button (the one with the three 3D shapes).
A 3D flight simulator will appear. The mouse controls flight; the right button moves you forward; the left button puts you in reverse. Esc. quits out of it.
Your system must be equipped with DirectX in order for this egg to work. I'm pretty sure that all systems have DirectX, though. (At least Windows does.)
Go to your desktop.
Right-click and select "Properties".
Click on the Screen Saver tab at the top.
On the drop-down menu where you select your screensaver, select "3D Text".
Click on Settings.
Type in "volcano" (except for the " 's) where you put what you want it to display.
Now, you can either just leave it or click on Preview to see what it does. That's all!
What it does is in place of the text, it will go through the names of different volcanoes. At least it's better than just a plain phrase or word on there, because it changes! Enjoy!
