WOOD

 

Start a new document in Adobe Photoshop, 400x400 pixels.

 

Layer>New>Layer

 

Using the square selection tool, select what you want the wood to be shaped.

 

On the color platte, choose brown, or a color very close to it.

 

Edit>Fill

 

Filter>Texture>Craquelure

 

Settings:

Crack spacing: 8

Crack depth: 6

Crack brightness: 9

 

Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates

Settings:

Polar to rectangular

 

There you have it!!! WOOD! ...But that's not all!

 

Now, create another layer under this one.

 

Select an area just outside of the already-made rectange.

 

Fill this with a darker brown.

 

Filter>texture>texturizer

Select:

Texture: sandstone

Scaling: 100%

Relief: 12

Light direction: bottom right

Now, you have yourself a nice piece of wood.

 

...But if you want to put text on the wood, read on!

 

On the upmost layer, select the type tool, and also a fat font. Now type in what you want.

 

Right-click on the text and select Effects.

 

Click the Next or Prev. buttons until you come accross "Bevel and Emboss". Make sure this is the only one that you have selected on "apply".

 

Settings:

 

Highlight

Mode: Screen [white]

Opacity: 75%

 

Shadow

Mode: Multiply [blac]

Opacity: 75%

 

Style: Outer Bevel

Angle: 120   [check] use global Angle

Depth: 5 pixels  o Down

Blur: 5 pixels

OK

 

Layer>Type>Render Type

 

Select a tan color on the color platte.

 

Select the magic wand tool.

 

While holding down SHIFT, click on each of the letters, highlighting them all.

 

Select>Modify>Contract

Select: 3

 

Edit>Fill

 

Filter>BLur>Gaussain Blur

Settings: 3.3

 

Ctrl+D

 

Now, do the magic wand thing and select all the letters. 

 

Select>Modify>Expand

Settings: 2

 

Edit>Fill
